Junior Scholarship

Junior Scholarship programme at The Hallamshire

The Hallamshire is one of the only clubs in Sheffield to offer both Tennis and Squash scholarships. We provide support to 11 scholars, who are chosen for the scheme, in order to allow them to succeed in their chosen sport. The scholarship programme underwent successive changes in 2018, under Squash coach Alex Cutts, and now is a well-rounded programme that is a huge asset both to our scholars and the Hallamshire.

Strength and Conditioning

The Hallamshire is delighted to bring on board Mark Campell, Ben Cobley and Luke Haslam. Mark Campbell has been an S&C coach for 15 years, and has been a crucial part in Nick Matthews career, and works in a variety of sporting fields. Ben Cobley is an S&C coach and has worked as a personal trainer at The Hallamshire for 12 years. Luke Haslam joined Ben’s team as a personal trainer 3 years ago. Both have a wide range of expertise which will be valuable in coaching our Scholars. 

 

Sports Psychology

We are excited to be able to incorporate sports psychology into the scheme for 2018/19, working with Chris Bradley. Chris has a variety of experience in supporting elite athletes, he takes an adaptable approach to meet the specific and unique needs of his clients. The Scholars will have a termly session with Chris, and will be a valuable asset in their arsenal going forwards.

 

Physio

Our physio support is coming from our in-house physio provider, Fit 4 Physio. Founded in 2011 by Richard Follett, it has gone from strength and strength, based at the Hallamshire. Alongside his experienced team, he has worked with everyone from Olympians to World champions. Our Scholars will have a termly physio workshop, educating them on injury prevention and giving them exercises which they can incorporate into their training regime.

 

Coach Support

Scholars have also been given an individual folder, to track their progress and encourage the development of their organizational skills when it comes to their training. The folder includes many useful resources, including goal setting sheets and also tournament reviews. Termly they will sit down with their coach to review their progress and set goals for the future.
